I don't often write reviews, but when it's AWESOME or TERRIBLE sometimes I cannot resist. Plus, I have to support women-owned businesses! I have bulged discs at L4/L5 and L5/S1, as well as pars defects, spinal slippage, and severe stenosis at L5/S1…in other words, Iegit problems in my lower back! I’ve now pulled/twisted it 3 times—each time my lower back spasms until it becomes stiff as a board!!! I’m an active and fairly fit woman, but when it happens, I know I’m not getting out of bed for at least a week and I’m probably going back to the physical therapist. I started using Zeel (at-home massage subscription) 5 years ago in Chicago, but have always used it to find _GREAT_ massage therapists and then stick with them. Unfortunately that typically takes a lot of trial and error. UGH!!! It’s frustrating to spend your hard earned money on bad massages in good times, but when your back is out, a good massage therapist could be the difference between a few days and weeks in bed!!! A great therapist is essential. New to the Memphis area and without even a social network to call on for referrals I was going to have to TOTALLY WING IT!!! :( :( :( Hate, HATED being away from my regular therapist in Chicago. So…back to Zeel for a rando… Lucky for me I found Alexandra Akins with Enhance Massage & Body Contouring on the first go!!! She is aMAZing! I cannot give her enough praise! Alex has great hands! In the very short time I’ve been in Memphis, I’ve gotten four massages from her. That’s works out for both of us because this enterprising young woman has also created a loyalty program (never seen that with a therapist I found through Zeel)! I definitely credit her most with helping me get back on my feet quickly! (Yes HER, not me! I get very grumpy and resistant to movement in these situations). She can apply deep pressure or relax me to sleep, and has even brought some extra accessories like warming pads a time or two. She has some great techniques for deep stretches too. I feel very comfortable with her in my home. She is courteous, communicative and cares enough to really listen to what’s going on so she can help you fix it! As I write this, I think I’m going to schedule another massage when I’m done. Whether you’re new or familiar with the area, I highly recommend letting Alexandra Akins at Enhance Massage & Body Contouring give you your next massage! You definitely won’t regret it. Thanks Alex!
